Alimento animal
Se ha visto que pollos y gallinas alimentadas con un 6 - 9% de ortiga deshidratada (para anular el efecto urticante) a la sombra, mejoran la retención de nutrientes y su salud, y aumentan de peso en menos tiempo. Puede ser un buen sustituto de la soja, como fuente proteica [5, 6].
Medicamento humano
Una infusión de ortiga diaria, en ayunas, ha demostrado reducir la hipertensión arterial [4].
La ortiga también ayuda en otras enfermedades [4].
Vermicompost
Se puede utilizar incluso como cebo para atraerlas [2].
Abono
Abono foliar con ortigas remojadas 24h [3].
Abono para el regar el suelo, con ortigas remojadas >24h [3].
Compost o aportación directa al suelo [1].
Insecticida
Aplicación foliar.
Aportación directa al suelo [1]. Quizás funcione fortaleciendo la planta.
