Es preferible usar alimentos como fuente de selenio, no suplementos [5], porque el selenio inorgánico es más tóxico que el orgánico [4].
La nuez de Brasil es el alimento con más selenio y debe controlarse su ingesta. 207-6815μg/100g [2] o 10040 ± 530µg/100g [3]. Principalmente en forma orgánica [6].
